We are pleased to share with you today the decision of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges to grant CBS candidacy status toward its accreditation. This achievement is a critical milestone in the development of the college.
The standard accreditation progression is a daunting three-step process, typically spaced over several years – application, candidacy and accreditation. Thousands of pages of documentation and records are provided to the accrediting agency. CBS’ Candidacy Team came to the college in April for the onsite review and to verify compliance documentation.
This new status allows CBS to proceed in its pursuit of membership with SACS over the next 24 months. As a team, the staff and faculty are completing the remainder of the documentation required to verify compliance with additional SACS requirements. As you know, CBS has been accredited by the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) since 2000 and will remain so. If dual accreditation is achieved, CBS will be one of only seven schools in the country to receive SACS and ABHE accreditation.
Please join us in prayers of thanksgiving and petition for God’s favor as we continue this process.
