Why are you at CBS

Many of our talented staff members came from other organizations or institutions to work here. Many of them have been here for many years. I asked a few of our staff here at the College of Biblical Studies to answer the question: “Why are you at CBS?” And here were some answers:

“I had a deep hungry for more of God. He put on my heart the desire to ‘Know and enjoy God more and to be near to the wise to be wise.’ After serving in Women’s Ministry and BSF for years, I felt the Lord wanted me to go further on with Him to show myself approved.”

“To encourage students to “Know and enjoy God more and to be near to the wise to be wise, ‘and finish well at CBS with excellence.’”

“I was about to become a single mom when I started attending courses here because I wanted to know more in depth about Biblical truth and I knew I would need it to raise this child alone!

Almost a year after starting taking courses here I started working here because God opened the opportunity through my brother Daniel and I continue to be here because God still wants me here. But something that motivates me to continue to be here is when I have the privilege to confer a degree. It is good to reflect on how the word of Truth has impacted this students that they are getting degrees in Bible the same way I did. I know Biblical Truth has transformed my life! And being a part of that with other believers is indeed a joy.

When I finished my Associate degree at HCC I started praying to continue my education because I didn’t have the means $$$ to do it. I knew I wanted to continue studying but didn’t know what, how or when. When I started working at CBS soon I found out classes were free for me as an employee and I was able to transfer 55 + credits from HCC and I was able to complete my Bachelor’s degree here at no cost. Now that is a blessing and a answered prayer!”

And lastly,

“I had a crush on a man from Sunday School named Ron, who later became my husband. Ron heard about CBS from listening to KHCB! We signed up for a course called the “Doctrine of Hell” but because of his work schedule, he was unable to attend and left me to attend “hell” by myself. Fortunately it was a short 5-week course. I must say that I was glad to make a B-. Making an A in “hell” would not have been something to be proud of! Seriously….in this course I learned how much I didn’t know. My objective was to learn what Jesus said about “hell” in order to teach it at church. Little did I know the course would be much deeper than expected or that I could possibly absorb. But I did learn there were deep theological discussions on topics such as TULIP, and about great thinkers like Barth and Origen. What an experience! I had to continue on this journey called CBS and enrolled in the Teacher Training Track immediately. Now 16 years later, I am on staff at CBS and have completed my BS in Biblical Counseling.”

Whether you are a student, staff member, alumni, or just a fan, we are glad you are a part of the CBS Family.
