Why do (some) Christians hate homosexuals?

Why do (some) Christians hate homosexuals?

This week’s CBS Insider answered the question: “Why do Christians hate homosexuals?” It’s not hard to understand why someone would ask this question, especially with things like Westboro Baptist Church‘s activities becoming so widely known for their extreme stance. Below, Dr. Parle gives a thoughtful response. On Monday, I will be posting a longer written response for those interested. Please leave your comments and questions, and share with your friends....

Why is there resistance against women being leaders in the church?

This is a question someone asked us on our Twitter account, @CBSHouston. Dr. Israel Loken took the time to write a response to this question- we would love your feedback! Also, let us know other questions you would like to see answered in the CBS Insider. Questions can range from Bbile and Theology, to current events in our country or the world, or even questions regarding study tips. What do you want to see? Enjoy!

Why are you at CBS

Many of our talented staff members came from other organizations or institutions to work here. Many of them have been here for many years. I asked a few of our staff here at the College of Biblical Studies to answer the question: “Why are you at CBS?” And here were some answers: “I had a deep hungry for more of God. He put on my heart the desire to ‘Know and enjoy God more and to be near to the wise to be wise.’ After serving in Women’s Ministry and BSF for years, I felt the Lord wanted me to go further on with Him to show myself approved.” “To encourage students to “Know and enjoy God more and to be near to the wise to be wise, ‘and finish well at CBS with excellence.’” “I was about to become a...

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

At the College of Biblical Studies, we aim to teach Truth, that will not only train students for their futures, but will also transform their lives! Martin Luther King, Jr. is an example of a transformational leader. Today, as we celebrate his life, take time to reflect on why we celebrate this day- why our whole country celebrates this day! Martin Luther King, Jr. is one of only three people in the United States who is celebrated by a national holiday (the others are Columbus and Washington). After an attempted assassination by a deranged black woman in 1958, King issued the statement below and also reaffirmed his belief in the power and effectiveness of non-violence. “I felt no ill will toward Mrs. Izola Currey [sic] and know that thoughtful people will do...

A Bethlehem Story

A Bethlehem Story

Bethlehem Birth of Jesus by Prof. Daniel McCabe Luke 2:7, “And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” That last contraction reminded Mary of other famous births on these same fertile hills. One millennium earlier Jesse’s bride had given birth here to the great King David. The harlot Rahab too had married and settled down here, giving birth to Boaz and perhaps later rejoicing in her son’s marriage to the beautiful Moabitess, Ruth. Sadly Jacob’s wife, Rachel, died here while giving birth to Joseph of “the coat of many colors” fame. Just ahead, the little town of Bethlehem soaked up the fading rays of windy sunlight streaming in from Mary’s...
